Ahmed Mardini

Managing Partner, Biography

Born and raised in Syria where he finished his university education with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Damascus University, Mr. Mardini started his career as a Liaison Officer with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) while at the same time working as an English editor for the Syrian Broadcast Service. However he found his true calling and passion in translation and linguistics.
He moved to Abu Dhabi in the late 80s to work as a legal translator at Mina Zayed, and then worked for about a decade as an English Editor in the Emirates News Agency (WAM). Later, he became an editor and translator for the executive Office of Dubai Government, leaving a distinguished mark on the translation services industry in the UAE and GCC along the way. His dream extended beyond merely offering his own linguistic knowledge and experience, he wanted to reshape a disoriented industry where inconsistent quality and unreliable service providers predominated. With this goal of reforming the industry in mind, he co-founded Elaph Translation in 2006, in a few short years becoming the leading translation company in the UAE and GCC.
